Skin boosters and dermal fillers are often mentioned in the same breath, and both are based on hyaluronic acid. But they're designed to do different things, and knowing the difference helps you have a more useful consultation.

The short answer

  • Skin boosters improve the quality of your skin: hydration, texture and radiance. They don't add volume or change your features.
  • Dermal fillers restore lost volume, soften deeper lines and enhance contours such as the cheeks, lips, chin or jawline.

Skin boosters: Teoxane babyGLOW™

At KRevive we offer Teoxane babyGLOW™, which uses TEOSYAL® Redensity 1. It delivers hyaluronic acid, amino acids, minerals and vitamins into the skin to improve hydration, elasticity and overall radiance.

  • Technique: a clinically developed 8-point injection technique, for even product distribution.
  • Who it suits: people with dullness, dehydration, fine lines or early signs of skin ageing who want fresher-looking skin without changing their features.
  • Downtime: minimal. Some people have mild redness or small injection marks straight afterwards, which typically settle within 24 hours.
  • Results: many patients notice better hydration and radiance within a few days, with skin quality continuing to improve over the following weeks.

Dermal fillers

As we age, collagen and elastin production falls, which can lead to volume loss, deeper folds and changes in facial definition. Dermal fillers are a non-surgical way to address this.

  • Products: KRevive uses hyaluronic acid fillers including TEOSYAL® by TEOXANE and JUVÉDERM®.
  • Common areas: lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nasolabial (smile) lines, marionette lines and, where appropriate, under the eyes.
  • Comfort: many fillers contain a local anaesthetic, and most patients feel only mild discomfort.
  • How long they last: most hyaluronic acid fillers last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the area treated, the product and individual factors such as metabolism.

Can you have both?

They address different concerns, so some people benefit from one, some from the other, and some from a combination over time. The right plan depends on your skin, your anatomy and what you want to achieve, and that's what your consultation with Nurse Katrina is for.
