Losing weight can feel overwhelming, especially when diets, exercise plans and online programmes haven't delivered the results you hoped for. Prescription medicines can be one part of the answer for some people. But how you access them matters.

The risk of buying online without a prescription

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has warned that buying prescription-only weight-loss medicines online without a prescription poses a direct danger to health. It has reported people being admitted to hospital after using pens that may have been fake, and has seized hundreds of potentially counterfeit pens.

The MHRA's advice is to:

  • speak to a healthcare professional who is qualified to prescribe, and get a prescription
  • only get medicines from a legitimate source, such as a pharmacy registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • report suspected fake products or side effects through the Yellow Card scheme

What clinician-led support looks like

At KRevive, medical weight management is a supportive, clinician-led programme overseen by Katrina Read, an Independent Nurse Prescriber. It isn't just about the number on the scales. It's about improving your overall health and building habits you can keep.

  • A one-to-one consultation first. Your initial 30-minute consultation looks at your health, lifestyle and goals. Prescription treatment is only considered where it's clinically appropriate.
  • Face-to-face reviews. Unlike online-only services, you'll have in-person appointments and regular progress reviews at our Corby clinic.
  • Support between appointments. If you have concerns or side effects, we'll offer guidance, review your treatment and discuss how to manage them.
  • Practical lifestyle guidance. We help you build healthier habits that support long-term results.

Is it right for you?

Not everyone is suitable for prescription treatment, and that's exactly why a proper assessment matters. Your consultation is the place to talk through your history, what you've tried before and the options that may suit you.
